Brand Refresh
A Brand Rooted in Land, Ice and Water
The Brief
Refreshing and Expanding the First Nations National Guardians Network Brand
Sectors: Charity
Services: Branding | Design
An Overview
We believe in building brands with heart, purpose, and precision, and our collaboration with the First Nations National Guardians Network (FNNGN) set out to do just that. To create a visual identity and digital presence as powerful and visionary as the work they lead.
FNNGN is the world’s first Indigenous-led national Guardian network. Their mission is to unite and amplify Indigenous stewardship across Canada by protecting lands, waters, ice, and ways of life for generations to come.
They came to us with a challenge. Their brand was underdeveloped, their website didn’t reflect the scale of their impact, and their story was being told in fragments. As a creative studio with experience in culturally sensitive, narrative-driven design, animation and films, we stepped in to deliver a full refresh and expansion.
“Working with Meantime was a transformative collaboration. The team approached the project with deep intention and respect”

What Was Delivered
A New Chapter for the Organisation
1. A Distinct and Respectful Visual Identity
We built upon FNNGN’s existing palette of blue and yellow, developing a wider secondary colour range inspired by land, water, and sky. Bold yet organic typography and nature-inspired patterns give the brand a grounded and recognisable presence. Photography and illustration were carefully combined to reflect both realism and tradition, with Guardians always at the centre of the story.
2. Homepage Explainer Animation
We created a short, illustrated homepage animation to clearly explain what FNNGN does and how communities can apply for funding. Designed with warmth, clarity, and cultural resonance, the animation captures both the scale of the work and the spirit behind it. As a creative studio with strong animation capability, we ensured the visuals worked seamlessly across digital platforms while staying true to FNNGN’s voice and values.
3. Strategic Website Design
Using Figma, we developed WordPress-ready wireframes for a new website structure; one that simplifies navigation, enhances storytelling, and highlights action-oriented content. The site is now positioned as a hub for Indigenous-led conservation, policy advocacy, and funding access.
4. Full Brand Toolkit
To help the organisation maintain consistency, we delivered a full suite of assets including brand guidelines, social media templates, visual rules, and video style guides. We also created recommendations for documentary and animation content, offering creative direction that FNNGN can build on as they grow their media output.
5. Ongoing Support
We continue to support FNNGN through brand implementation, ensuring that every piece of content; from mini-documentaries to downloadable toolkits, aligns with their voice and vision.

The Impact
Why It Matters
The Guardians Network isn’t just another conservation organisation. They’re leading a global shift in how environmental protection is understood and enacted. Grounded in Indigenous law, culture, and responsibility. This rebrand had to match that energy.
Now, with a refreshed identity and digital platform, FNNGN is better equipped to influence policy, attract funding, and mobilise communities. Their voice is stronger, their story is clearer, and their digital presence is fit for the future.
And for us, as a creative studio committed to meaningful work, this project represents everything we care about: respectful design, powerful storytelling, and long-term impact.
