The Brief

Crafting human-led recruitment video flims that put people first

Sectors: Engineering
Services: Film

Honest stories. Skilled futures. Recruitment done properly.

At Meantime Studio, we’ve produced recruitment campaigns for organisations across healthcare, education and local government — from the NHS to Norfolk County Council and UEA. For GT Bunnings, we created two recruitment-led video flims built around real individuals and real opportunity. No over-scripted messaging. No corporate polish for the sake of it. Just honest stories, told well. One film follows Scott, an apprentice at the start of his career. The other centres on Chris, whose path into Bunnings proves that second chapters can be just as powerful as first ones. Different journeys. Same ethos: invest in people.

Film 1

Chris – Finding Purpose and Belonging

Deliverables:

  • Hero Films x 2
  • 30s Versions x 2

Chris’ story carries emotional weight. His route into Bunnings wasn’t straightforward, and that’s exactly why it resonates. This film leans into lived experience — allowing space for honesty, pauses and reflection. We kept the production approach simple:

  • Calm, conversational interviews
  • Cinematic but restrained visuals
  • Sound design that supports rather than steers emotion

The result reframes recruitment as something bigger than hiring. It becomes about dignity, opportunity and being backed properly.

Film 2

Scott – Apprenticeship in Action

Scott represents the future of the trade: motivated, hands-on and keen to build something tangible. Rather than treating him like a case study subject, we approached the film as a portrait. Natural interviews. Observational coverage. Real working moments. We let the environment do some of the storytelling — sparks flying, materials moving, focus and concentration in the details. The narrative arc was subtle but intentional:

  • Why he chose apprenticeship
  • What he’s learning
  • Where he sees it taking him

It’s not about selling a job. It’s about showing progression. A future that feels solid and achievable.

Our Production Approach

Across both films, we focused on:

  • Authentic, non-performative interviews
  • Visual consistency rooted in craft and environment
  • Efficient production planning
  • Editorial clarity without losing humanity

We build our recruitment video flims around emotional connection first, messaging second. Because when the story works, the strategy lands. These aren’t standalone brand pieces. They’re working recruitment assets designed to convert interest into action. They give potential applicants something tangible: faces, voices, pathways. Whether you’re leaving school like Scott or changing direction like Chris, there’s space for you. That’s the power of thoughtful video flims.
