The Brief
A Celebration of collaboration between Jersey Overseas Aid and the BRC.
Sectors: Charity | Campaigns
Services: Film | Animation
An Overview
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day in Jersey; a powerful moment of reflection on the island’s resilience. To commemorate this huge milestone, creative video agency Meantime Studio had the honour of creating a short film for the British Red Cross, celebrating Jersey’s extraordinary journey from receiving vital aid during the Occupation to becoming a committed humanitarian partner globally.
The film tells a story of transformation and solidarity. What began as emergency support to a war-torn island has evolved into a decades-long partnership with Jersey Overseas Aid, rooted in compassion, cooperation, and international impact.
The Outcome
A Moving Tribute
Deliverables:
- Hero Film
- Social Versions
The project drew on archival footage, collaborative scripting by meantime and the British Red Cross, and a voiceover-led narrative to weave the past and present into a single, moving tribute. At the heart of the story is a sense of continuity: the Red Cross emblem, once a symbol of hope for those on the island, now represents Jersey’s outward-facing support to communities in crisis around the world.
The film launched at an event at Liberation Square; marking a huge celebration of the achievements of the two organisations, and a commitment to the future. The film was also circulated on social media across both BRC and JOA channels. It was an honour for our creative video agency to be involved in such a momentous occasion.

Produced by Meantime Studio creative video agency, the film aims to honour that legacy while inspiring future commitment
Research
Delving through the Archive
Carefully reviewing archive imagery, the team at Meantime worked out how the different media could be used to tell a story that was both visually striking and emotionally honest. As we sifted through decades of photographs and footage, we were struck by how deeply woven humanitarianism is into Jersey’s identity. This was about charity, and it was about a sustained, meaningful commitment to the British Red Cross and global solidarity.
Through Jersey Overseas Aid, the island has consistently channelled its strength into purposeful action with the BRC. From rural water systems in East Africa to emergency healthcare responses in disaster zones, Jersey’s support has reached some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. These programmes deliver not only clean water, healthcare, and education, but also dignity and hope, values that align with the storytelling ethos we bring to every project.
