Video Filming with UEA

Real Stories from the Creative Writing Course

No scripts

In a digital world overflowing with filters, fakery, and fast cuts, it’s easy to forget how powerful the real thing can be. That’s exactly why our latest video filming project with the University of East Anglia took a different approach—one that prioritised honesty, warmth and a grounded sense of place.

UEA’s Creative Writing course is legendary. For over 50 years, it’s nurtured some of the world’s most celebrated authors, from Ian McEwan and Anne Enright to Nobel Laureate Sir Kazuo Ishiguro. But how do you capture the heart of such a course in a film; not just the prestige, but the everyday texture of life on campus and in Norwich?

We stripped it back. No scripts. No talking heads. Just real conversations, recorded off-camera, and visuals rooted in the daily lives of the students who live and breathe the course!

Built to Last

This wasn’t built for TikTok or to chase attention spans. It’s a longer-form piece, made for the curious: for prospective students looking for something deeper than a glossy montage. It’s about connection, not performance. And that shows, in every word spoken and every frame captured. We believe that now—more than ever—video filming needs to champion trust. With AI content on the rise and public faith in digital media wobbling, there’s something radical about showing people just as they are. That’s what we set out to do here, and the response has been brilliant. Real stories matter, and we’re grateful to UEA for giving us the space to tell them.

Our work with UEA spans multiple projects, and it’s always a creative partnership rooted in trust. The team there have consistently backed us to dig deeper, push beyond clichés and make space for authenticity. Whether it’s highlighting student experiences or celebrating the university’s culture, we’ve found real alignment in values; and that’s when the best kind of video filming happens!
